X-rays

Type of image of the teeth and mouth
. X-rays are a form of high-energy electromagnetic radiation. The X-rays penetrate the body to form an image on film or screen. X-rays can be either digital or developed on a film.

The three kinds we use in Ivory Clinics :

1- OPG:
An orthopantomogram (OPG) is a common radiograph used to identify the hard tissues of the oral cavity and surrounding skeletal structures. It is an extra-oral radiograph that approximates the focal trough of the mandible.

2- Panoramic :
It’s a two-dimensional (2-D) dental X-ray examination that captures the entire mouth in a single image, including the teeth, upper and lower jaws, surrounding structures, and tissues.

3- Cephalometric dental x-ray :

Cephalometric X-rays are extraoral, meaning that no plates or film are inserted inside the mouth. Cephalometric and panoramic X-rays display the nasal and sinus passages, which are missed by intraoral bitewing X-rays. Cephalometric X-rays are usually taken with a panoramic X-ray machine.
